Dismantling
The Dismantling workstation is the second processing workstation. It gathers the units ready to be dismantled: those whose degassing is recorded (or marked "No gas"), and those whose product type has nothing to degas. For each unit, the operator identifies it if needed, then records its dismantling in a single tap. The unit is then Processed.
Like the Degassing workstation, it is designed for a tablet at the bench — large rows to tap, large buttons, QR codes read with the camera — and also works on a computer and on a phone.
Before you start
- Permission: the Dismantling menu only appears if your role has the Operations › Processing › Dismantling permission. Without it, the menu is hidden and the workstation's address is refused. See Roles and permissions. This permission covers everything done at the workstation: seeing the list, identifying a unit, dismantling it, undoing a dismantling and removing a batch from inventory. It does not give access to the Degassing workstation, which has its own permission.
- Quick access: with this permission, the home page also shows the Dismantling card ("Degassed units to dismantle.") under Quick actions. See Dashboard.
- Completed reception: a unit only reaches the workstation once the reception of its inbound batch is completed. See Receptions.
- Degassing first: a unit whose product type is Degassable only reaches the workstation after its degassing, or after "No gas" is recorded, at the Degassing workstation.
How the workstation works
Degassing always comes first when the product type is degassed. Other units reach dismantling as soon as the reception is completed.
The unit's status follows this path:
The dismantling is recorded in a single tap: RecyTrax automatically records who did it (the signed-in user) and when. There is no timer, no employee to pick and no entry of the materials obtained. The materials recovered are then grouped into outbound batches, on their own screen; a unit's dismantling is not linked to a specific outbound batch.
The list of units to dismantle
Open Dismantling in the menu. The page shows Units degassed, or with no gas to recover, to dismantle, oldest first.
Which units are listed
A unit is in the list when:
- the reception of its inbound batch is completed;
- it is not dismantled yet;
- its degassing is recorded (degassed or "No gas"), or its product type is not Degassable.
Identified units and units still To identify are all listed; a unit of a type that is not degassable is often identified here. Batches stored in inventory are listed too, with their location (see Batch in inventory).
When the list is empty, the page shows No unit to dismantle.
What the list shows
Units are grouped by inbound batch. Each batch header shows the batch number (LE-…), the reception number, the location (only when the batch is in inventory), the processing deadline and the number of units of the batch still to dismantle.
Each unit takes up one large row: the category icon, the product type, the brand · model · year (or the To identify badge), and how long it has been ready, for example Ready 2 hours ago. This is counted from the degassing's recording, or from the reception's completion for a unit with no gas to recover.
Above the list, a summary gives the totals, for example 8 unit(s) · 2 batch(es). The list refreshes automatically every 30 seconds: a unit degassed at the neighbouring workstation appears by itself.
Order and deadline
Units are listed in the order they became ready, oldest first: batches by their oldest unit (on a tie, LE-9 before LE-10), then, within each batch, units in their order of arrival.
The batch's processing deadline is June 30 of the year after its reception was completed. Once it has passed, it is shown in red with a warning triangle (tooltip Deadline passed). It does not change the order of the list. See Degassing › Processing deadline.
Search or scan
The search field (Batch, reception, label, brand or model) and its scan button (Scan an inbound batch or a unit's label) work as at the Degassing workstation:
| You scan… | Result |
|---|---|
| An inbound batch's QR code | The batch number (LE-…) is put in the search, which filters the list on that number. |
| The QR label stuck on a unit | That unit's screen opens directly, wherever it stands. |
| An outbound batch's QR code | Refused: This QR code is not an inbound batch's. Scan an inbound batch label (LE-…). |
| A label no unit has | Refused: No unit has the label “…”. Identify the unit to associate its label. |
A handheld scanner that "types" into the field works too: a unit's exact label followed by the Enter key opens that unit. See QR codes and external identifiers.
Open a unit
- In the list, tap the unit's row — or scan its QR label.
- The unit screen opens.
At the top: the Dismantling button with an arrow (back to the list), the unit's place in the list (for example 3 of 24) and Next, which moves on to the next unit without recording anything.
On the left, the unit's card: product type, status badge, brand · model · year (or To identify), Batch no., Reception, Location, Processing deadline, QR label and, when the unit went through degassing, Degassing: "Degassed" or "No gas" with its reason, followed by the date, time and operator's name.
On the right, the Dismantling panel offers the one thing to do:
| Where the unit stands | What the panel offers |
|---|---|
| Ready, not identified yet | The large Identify button and, below it, the Dismantle button greyed out. |
| Ready and identified | The large Dismantle button and, for a unit that did not go through degassing, Change the identification. |
| Its batch is stored in inventory | A message and the Remove from inventory button (see Batch in inventory). |
| Already dismantled | A green Dismantled card (date, time, operator), with Next unit (or Back to the list) and Undo dismantling. |
| Degassable type, degassing not done yet | The message Degas the unit before dismantling it. and the Back to the list button. |
| Reception not completed | The message This unit is not received yet: its reception is not completed. and the Back to the list button. |
On a phone, the screen fits in one column and the main button (Identify or Dismantle) is placed in the bar at the bottom of the screen.
Identify the unit
A unit must be identified (brand and model) before it is dismantled: until it is, the Dismantle button stays greyed out.
- Tap Identify (or Change the identification).
- In the Identify a unit of batch LE-… window, scan the unit's QR label if needed, check the Product type, then choose the model in Product — or Add a new product if it does not exist.
- Tap Identify.
The Unit identified. message confirms it is saved and the status becomes Identified. The window is described in detail in Degassing › Identify the unit.
A unit that went through degassing keeps its identification: the button is not offered here. To change it, the degassing must be undone at the Degassing workstation.
A unit takes its model's type. If you choose a model of a Degassable type, the unit must be degassed first: it leaves the dismantling list for the degassing list, and the screen shows Degas the unit before dismantling it.
Dismantle a unit
- Open the unit. If it is not identified, identify it first.
- Tap Dismantle.
There is nothing else to enter. The Unit dismantled. message appears and the list opens again, ready for the next unit. The unit's status becomes Processed and it leaves the list. The date, time and your name are recorded automatically.
Once all the units of an inbound batch are processed, the batch also becomes Processed.
The Unit dismantled. message has an Undo button. Tap it to undo the dismantling at once: the unit opens again, to dismantle again.
Undo a dismantling
- Right away: tap Undo in the confirmation message.
- Later: open the unit again at the Dismantling workstation by scanning its QR label (or by typing the label in the search, then Enter), then tap Undo dismantling under the green card.
The Operation undone. message appears and the unit opens again. It returns to the dismantling list and goes back to its previous status: Degassed if it went through degassing, Identified otherwise. The inbound batch, if it was Processed, goes back to Processing (or to Received if none of its units has an operation recorded any more).
Undoing the dismantling is also the first step to correct a degassing: while the unit is dismantled, its degassing cannot be undone (Undo the unit's dismantling first.).
Batch in inventory
A batch stored at a warehouse location is in storage: its units can be neither identified nor dismantled while it is in inventory. The panel then shows Batch LE-… is in inventory: remove it from inventory before dismantling its units.
- Tap Remove from inventory.
- Confirm in the Remove batch LE-… from inventory? window by tapping Remove from inventory.
The Batch removed from inventory. message appears and the Dismantle button becomes available. The removal applies to the whole batch. See Inbound batches.
View the processing details
From Inbound batches, open the batch, then tap a unit's eye icon (Processing details). The read-only Processing details - LE-… window shows the unit (Model, Product type, Status, QR label) and one card per step:
- Degassing: Done (with the gas, quantity and cylinder), No gas (with the reason), Pending or Not required;
- Dismantling: Done, with the date, time and operator's name, or Pending (Not dismantled yet.).
See Degassing › View the processing details. The dismantling date also appears in the recycling report.
Fields
Dismantling has no field to fill in. The information recorded is:
| Information | Description | Entry |
|---|---|---|
| Date and time | The moment Dismantle was tapped. | Automatic |
| Operator | The first and last name of the signed-in user (or their user name). | Automatic |

Frequently asked questions
Why does a received unit not appear in the list?
If its product type is Degassable, it first waits at the Degassing workstation. Otherwise, check that its batch's reception is completed and that it has not already been dismantled.
The Dismantle button is greyed out.
The unit is not identified yet. Tap Identify, choose its model, then Dismantle.
Do I need to enter the time spent or the materials obtained?
No. The workstation only records who dismantled the unit and when. The materials are grouped into outbound batches.
I dismantled the wrong unit.
Tap Undo in the confirmation message, or open the unit again (by scanning its label) and tap Undo dismantling. The unit returns to the list.
Why can't I change the identification of a degassed unit?
The degassing was recorded for that model. To change the model, have the degassing undone at the Degassing workstation, then identify the unit again.
The screen says the batch is in inventory.
Tap Remove from inventory and confirm: the batch leaves its location and all its units can be processed.
Can I work on a phone?
Yes. The screen is shown in one column and the main button is placed in the bar at the bottom of the screen. The camera is used to scan labels; if it does not start, see QR codes and external identifiers.
