The journey of an appliance

RecyTrax tracks end-of-life appliances from their arrival at the plant until the materials recovered from them leave. This page shows how the screens follow one another and what each step records. Each step has its own detailed page.

Overview

The journey has two halves:

  • On the way in, RecyTrax tracks each unit (each appliance): it arrives with a reception, belongs to an inbound batch, then goes through the degassing and dismantling workstations.
  • On the way out, RecyTrax tracks materials: each outbound batch holds a single material and a weight, then leaves with a shipment.
The link between in and out

RecyTrax does not record which appliances the material of an outbound batch came from (the dotted arrow above). The mass balance compares, over a period, the weight of the units received with the weight of the materials shipped.

1. Reception: the load arrives

A carrier delivers a load with a transport note. You create a reception (R-n): carrier, transport note number, expected quantity. The reception stays in Draft while you count the units.

2. Inbound batches: count, then identify the units

In the reception, you create one or more inbound batches (LE-n), for example one per pallet, counting the units by product type ("6 × Refrigerator").

When the total number of units equals the expected quantity, you complete the reception. This is the key moment:

  • the batches move to Received and get their processing deadline (June 30 of the following year);
  • their units enter the processing queues.

Each unit is then identified: you record its exact model (brand, model number), which gives its weight and, for a refrigerated appliance, its gas. Identification is done on the batch page or directly at the processing workstations. A QR label can be linked to the unit so it can be found with a scan (see QR codes and labels).

A batch waiting to be processed can be put in inventory, that is, stored at a warehouse location. It must be removed from inventory before its units are processed.

3. Degassing: recover the refrigerant gas

Units whose product type is Degassable (refrigerators, air conditioners…) go to the Degassing workstation first. The operator records the gas type, the quantity recovered and the cylinder that received it, or "No gas" with the reason. The unit moves to Degassed.

4. Dismantling: finish processing

Degassed units, and units whose type is not degassable, reach the Dismantling workstation. The operator confirms the dismantling in one tap: the unit moves to Processed. When every unit of an inbound batch is processed, the batch moves to Processed too.

5. Outbound batches: prepare the materials

Sorted materials are grouped into outbound batches (LS-n): a bin, a pallet or a container of a single material, with its weight and, optionally, its packaging. An outbound batch can be stored at a warehouse location and has an identification corner to print.

6. Shipment: send the materials

A shipment (EX-n) groups the outbound batches leaving together for a buyer, with a carrier. You add the batches, check their weights and choose their valorization (pre-filled from the buyer), then click Ship. The batches move to Shipped and leave the inventory.

Next: the reports

Every step feeds the reports:

ReportFed by
Reception registerCompleted receptions and their units.
Outbound materialsOutbound batches of shipped shipments.
Mass balanceUnits received (inputs) compared with materials shipped (outputs), and shipped gases.
Recycling registerUnits received and their processing.

The dashboard on the home page also summarizes the period's activity: valorization gap, units received, degassed, dismantled and in inventory, and kilograms shipped by valorization type.

What to set up before you start

Operations rely on data prepared by an administrator. Details and the recommended order are in the administration overview.

To…You need…
Create a receptionAn active partner of type Carrier.
Count the units of a batchProduct types; tick Degassable on those that contain a gas.
DegasMaterials ticked Gas, and cylinders (packagings).
Put a batch in inventoryAn active warehouse with at least one active location.
Create an outbound batchActive materials.
ShipAn active partner of type Client (the buyer), a carrier, and valorizations.
