Valorizations

The Administration › Valorizations screen manages valorization types: the management mode applied to a material when it leaves the plant, for example recycling, reuse or disposal. Each outbound batch receives a valorization type at shipping time.

Valorization types are used in several places:

  • Partners: for each client, you set the default valorization of each material (Material and valorization tab). See Partners.
  • Shipments: each batch added to a shipment takes the buyer's default valorization for its material; you can change it while the shipment is a draft. A shipment cannot be shipped if one of its batches has no valorization: "These batches have no valorization: batches." See Shipments.
  • Outbound materials register: the Management mode column shows the valorization of each shipped batch. See Outbound materials register.
  • Mass balance: outputs are split into one column per valorization type, and the Valorization rate only counts types ticked Valorizable. See Mass balance.
  • Dashboard: the Kg by valorization type chart. See Dashboard.

Before you start

  • You need the Valorization permission (see Administration overview).
  • A new organization has no valorization types: create them before setting up your clients and making your first shipment.

View valorization types

Open Administration › Valorizations. The list shows the Icon, the Code (a dash if there is none), the Name and Valorizable (a check mark or an X). Search with Search by name or code.

Create a valorization type

  1. Click New valorization.
  2. Enter the Code (optional) and the Name.
  3. Choose an Icon with Select an icon (optional; see The icon picker).
  4. Tick Valorizable if this management mode counts as valorization (recycling, reuse…). Leave it unticked for disposal.
  5. Click Save.

Edit a valorization type

Click the pencil icon at the end of the row. The Edit valorization type window opens. Change the fields, then click Save. The new name shows everywhere, including on batches already shipped and in the reports. Changing Valorizable changes the valorization rate of every period, past ones included.

Delete a valorization type

  1. Click the trash icon at the end of the row.
  2. Confirm with Yes in the "Are you sure you want to delete "name"?" window.

RecyTrax refuses the deletion if a partner uses this type as a default valorization: "This valorization type is used by a partner." First remove it from the partner records concerned.

A type already used in shipments

RecyTrax does not stop you from deleting a type already given to shipped batches. In that case, the dashboard groups those batches under "Deleted valorization type" and the mass balance no longer has a column for that type (its weight still counts in the totals). To keep reports readable, rename the type rather than deleting it.

The Valorizable option and the valorization rate

The mass balance calculates the Valorization rate as follows:

Valorization rate (%) = weight of batches shipped with a Valorizable type ÷ total weight of shipped batches × 100

It "includes every output except disposal": so tick Valorizable on every management mode that recovers the material, and leave it unticked on disposal. A batch shipped without a valorization or with a non-valorizable type counts in the total, but not in the valorized share.

For example, if you shipped 8,000 kg to recycling (Valorizable) and 2,000 kg to disposal (not valorizable), the valorization rate is 8,000 ÷ 10,000 × 100 = 80%.

Frequently asked questions

The mass balance valorization rate is 0%.

None of the valorization types given to batches shipped during the period is ticked Valorizable. Tick Valorizable on the relevant types: the rate is recalculated for every period.

I can't delete a valorization type.

A client uses it as a default valorization. Open the partner in Administration › Partners, Material and valorization tab, and change or remove the rows that use it.

Is the code required?

No. If it is empty, the list shows a dash. If entered, it must be unique.

Can I change the valorization of a batch that has already been shipped?

No: a shipped shipment can no longer be changed ("This shipment is shipped and can no longer be changed."). You can only rename the type itself.

Why doesn't a valorization have a column in the gas section of the mass balance?

Section 2. Output quantities shows a column for every existing valorization type. Section 3, the gas section, only shows the types used by batches shipped during the chosen period.
